On November 17, Wu Tao, member of the Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese and the Beijing Municipal Committee, gave an academic lecture on the theme of “Planning and Construction of Beijing Urban Sub-center and Industrial Synergy Development of Weihai Nanhai New Area” on Weihai campus.
On November 17, Wu Tao, a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the director of Beijing Tongzhou District Investment Promotion Service Center, came to Weihai Campus and gave an academic lecture on the topic of “Planning and Construction of Beijing's Urban Sub-center and Synergistic Development of Industry in Weihai Nanhai New District” to the teachers and students. Liu Qiangsheng, member of Weihai Nanhai New Area Working Committee, Liu Ying, President of Weihai International College, Li Xiangshan, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Weihai Campus, Bai Yanlei, Vice President of Weihai International College, heads of relevant departments of Nanhai New Area Management Committee, heads of departments of Weihai Campus, all the counselors and some students participated in this lecture. The lecture was hosted by Bai Yanlei.
In the lecture, Wu Tao introduced the advantageous features, planning and construction of Tongzhou District as Beijing's urban sub-center and the results achieved, and also mentioned that the high-quality development of Tongzhou District will lead to the upgrading and development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Bohai Rim Economic Circle.At the beginning of 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping, when he went to the administrative office area of Beijing's urban sub-center in Tongzhou District to inspect the sub-center's construction situation, emphasized that the construction of the sub-center of Beijing not only has to improve the master plan, but also to strengthen the design of major functional blocks, major landscapes, and major buildings, reflecting the spirit of the city, showing the characteristics of the city, and enhancing the charm of the city. Tongzhou District seriously study the thought of General Secretary Xi and follow the pace of General Secretary Xi to carry out the construction. At the same time, Wu Tao also recounted his own overseas study and return to China to develop learning, work and growth experience, elaborating on the key to success is to pay attention to the details of life experience. After the lecture, the teachers and students present had a warm discussion with Wu Tao.
Through this lecture, teachers and students were able to gain a deeper understanding of the background and achievements of the planning and construction of Beijing's urban sub-centers, which broadened their horizons and increased their knowledge.
