Undergraduate Short-Term Overseas Programs:
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Summer Program and Lancaster University Summer Schools are official exchange programs organized by partner universities. Promotion begins at the end of the fall semester each year, with registration and visa applications available at the beginning of the following spring semester.
The RIT Summer Program: Global Business Innovation & English Language is a summer program focused on cultivating business-related professional skills. It lasts for 4 weeks, with faculty leading the program throughout. Students majoring in business-related fields (e.g., information management, business administration, accounting) are eligible to participate.
On weekdays, the program includes 2 hours of English training in the morning and 2 hours of business innovation courses in the afternoon. Evenings feature a variety of activities such as dinners, movies, laser tag, treasure hunts, cultural evenings, ice skating, rock climbing, and crafts. Weekends include visits to Rochester’s urban areas, museums, canal boating, Great Lakes sightseeing, Niagara Falls, Native American cultural festivals, baseball games, shopping, and cooking competitions. From rural to urban settings, from historical tribes to cultural shifts, and from urbanization to counter-urbanization, you will deeply experience the historical evolution and cultural charm of the American continent. At the end of the program, your summer project results will be showcased alongside those of RIT undergraduate graduates, with Q&A sessions conducted for faculty, campus members, and local entrepreneurs. You will find significant improvements in your English proficiency, business skills, confidence, and independent living abilities.
The Lancaster University Summer Schools offer multiple summer programs each year, including comprehensive cultural experience programs and specialized programs for specific fields (e.g., environment, business, politics). The most popular program in previous years has been the International Cultural Experience (ICE) Program, which lasts for 3 weeks and is open to students of all majors, with faculty leading the program throughout.
On the first day of the ICE program, you will be assigned to one of Lancaster University’s colleges and grouped with students from various countries to begin 3 weeks of cultural exchange activities. Weekdays include lectures, discussions, visits, professional development activities, volunteer work, sports events, and talent shows, covering various aspects of British politics, history, culture, business, agriculture, and more. On weekends, you can choose from different travel routes provided by the university to visit major cities and tourist destinations in the UK, such as London, Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, the Lake District, York, and Lancashire. From modern cities to mountains and lakes, Roman ruins, medieval churches, and English manors—if you have some knowledge of British geography, history, and culture, you will gain insights and experiences beyond your imagination.
