On May 22, a cultural carnival was held to celebrate World Day for Culture Diversity. The event drew active participation from faculty and students representing countries and regions across the world. Through vibrant cultural displays and immersive interactions, the carnival created a cross-border and intercultural celebration, showcasing the passion and creativity of young people in global cultural exchange.

The festival featured two main exhibition zones—Chinese Cultural Heritage and Global Traditions—with 19 interactive booths. The Chinese zone, curated by domestic students and faculty, celebrated the diversity of the nation’s ethnic cultures through traditional attire displays, dialect interactions, culinary delights, and folk games. Meanwhile, the international zone, organized by overseas participants, captivated visitors with themed explorations of traditional festivals, linguistic games, cultural icons, and youth trends from around the world.

Highlights included crowds eager to try on intricate Miao ethnic costumes, laughter-filled Minnan dialect tutorials, bustling food stalls offering regional specialties, and spirited competitions like Fujian’s Bó Bǐng dice game and cowboy archery. These activities embodied the spirit of "appreciating one’s own beauty while celebrating others’," as students showcased cultural pride and mutual respect.

International Culture Section
Internationally, the lively Maypole dance immersed attendees in British springtime traditions, while practical maritime knot-tying workshops brought nautical culture to life. Quirky linguistic exchanges in Cockney, Scottish Gaelic, and Russian further bridged cultural divides, sparking curiosity and shared joy among participants.

Adding a flavorful twist, the student-runTo North Café debuted a series of themed beverages inspired by the festival’s ethos, blending global and local influences. Its creative offerings quickly became a crowd favorite and a must-visit photo spot.
More than a celebration of diversity, the festival deepened participants’ appreciation for both cultural heritage and global interconnectedness. By transcending borders through empathy and dialogue, it empowered young scholars to embrace their role as ambassadors of cross-cultural understanding and advocates for a shared human future.

Looking ahead, Weihai Campus plans to collaborate with the Campus Labor Union, LUC at BJTU and the RIT MIS Project Team to deliver more vibrant international exchange initiatives. Stay tuned!
