From Nov 15 to 18, BJTU Weihai Campus organized staff to conduct on-site teaching activities at Jiaoyulu Cadre College in Lankao, Henan Province.

From November 15th to 18th, the Weihai Campus organized a group of faculty and staff to visit the Jiao Yulu Cadre College in Lankao, Henan Province, for an experiential learning activity. The purpose of this initiative was to guide and inspire the campus staff to trace the footsteps of the glorious history of CPC, and draw strength for progress. Through this immersive experience, participants gained a deeper understanding of the spirit of Jiao Yulu, a model communist who dedicated his life to serving the people, and were encouraged to apply these lessons in their own work and lives.

Jiao Yulu is revered as an exemplary Party cadre and a devoted public servant of the people, serving as a role model for the entire Party. Since the 1960s, his deeds and spirit have continuously inspired Party members and cadres in Lankao and across the whole country to seek truth, be pragmatic, and forge ahead with determination. The essence of Jiao Yulu's spirit has been succinctly summarized by Xi Jinping as "being close to and loving the people, working hard with a pioneering attitude, pursuing science and truth, confronting challenges head-on, and selflessly dedicating oneself to the cause." Xi Jinping called on the entire CPC to learn and promote his public servant ethos, practical work style, relentless striving spirit, and moral integrity.



On November 15th, the Weihai Campus launched a special training ssession titled "Revisiting CPC History, Drawing Strength for Progress" at the Jiao Yulu Cadre College in Henan Province. The opening ceremony was attended by Li Xiangshan, Secretary of CPC Weihai Campus Committee, Liu Ying, Dean of Weihai International College, and other members of the campus leadership team. Also present was Huang Hongmei, the Party Committee Member and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Jiao Yulu Cadre College. This program aims to deepen participants' understanding of revolutionary history and inspire them with the enduring spirit of dedication and perseverance exemplified by Jiao Yulu.

Huang Hongmei extended a warm welcome to all participants of the training program and provided a brief introduction to the college. She emphasized that the Jiao Yulu Cadre College, as the primary base for promoting and disseminating the spirit of Jiao Yulu nationwide, is committed to empowering the new era with Jiao Yulu's enduring legacy. She noted that the hosting of the special training session by the Weihai Campus of Beijing Jiaotong University at the college is a significant testament to their trust and support. Huang encouraged everyone to view this training as a new starting point and to actively engage in the journey of advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization with a more spirited and determined attitude.

In his opening remarks, Li Xiangshan expressed gratitude to the Jiao Yulu Cadre College for their meticulous arrangements. He noted that the Weihai Campus is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary, having progressed from humble beginnings to steady development, with all the hardships and achievements along the way deeply felt by everyone. Standing at a new developmental juncture, Li emphasized that the Weihai Campus must remain acutely aware that the challenges ahead are still formidable and the tasks of development remain arduous. He stressed the importance of drawing spiritual nourishment from this experience, understanding the essence of Jiao Yulu's spirit, and bringing the spiritual wealth gained in Lankao back to the Weihai Campus. Li called for Jiao Yulu's spirit to take deeper root and flourish at the campus, driving the institution towards higher quality and more distinctive development. He envisioned this as injecting powerful momentum for the next decade and beyond, contributing to the establishment of a world-class transportation university with Chinese characteristics.


The immersive Party spirit education course, "Hello, Jiao Yulu," allowed participants to relive the brief yet glorious life of Jiao Yulu in a vivid and engaging manner. The innovative and unique teaching format enabled everyone to experience the historical impact of Jiao Yulu's spirit, helping them understand why his legacy continues to resonate deeply and touch souls to this day.



At the Jiao Tong Square, faculty and staff listened to the moving stories behind the "Jiao Tong" (the paulownia tree planted by Jiao Yulu) and paid their respects to the tree planted by Secretary Jiao himself. Having weathered over 60 years of wind and rain, the "Jiao Tong" stands as a silent witness, quietly recounting the past. In the Lankao County Exhibition Hall, participants revisited the great and honorable life of Comrade Jiao Yulu through real-life scenes and exhibits, learning about his remarkable achievements in leading the people of Lankao to combat natural disasters and overcome the "Three Calamities." At the Dongbatou section of the Yellow River, they gained insights into the historical evolution of the Yellow River, the causes of the "Three Calamities" in Lankao, and the significance of ecological and environmental protection in the Yellow River Basin in the new era.

Through these experiences, the faculty and staff not only deepened their understanding of Jiao Yulu's spirit but also drew inspiration to apply his values of dedication, perseverance, and selflessness in their own work and lives, contributing to the development of the campus and society at large.

By listening to the heartfelt accounts of comrades, family members, and colleagues who worked and lived alongside Jiao Yulu, participants gained insight into the lesser-known and deeply moving stories behind his life. These narratives revealed the depth of his dedication and the profound impact of his work, allowing everyone to better understand his methods and his unwavering commitment to serving the people. Through these personal recollections, participants were able to deeply reflect on Jiao Yulu's approach to leadership and his profound love for the people, drawing inspiration to emulate his spirit in their own lives and work.

The course "The Formation and Contemporary Value of Jiao Yulu's Spirit" opened a door to the past for participants, guiding them to trace the origins and evolution of Jiao Yulu's spirit. Through this exploration, they gained a clear understanding of the profound value that Jiao Yulu's spirit holds across different eras. The course highlighted how his principles of dedication, perseverance, and selflessness remain relevant and inspiring, offering timeless lessons for addressing contemporary challenges. By connecting the historical context with modern applications, participants were able to appreciate the enduring significance of Jiao Yulu's legacy and its potential to guide and inspire future generations.

In Zhangzhuang Village, Dongbatou Town, faculty staffs retraced the path of Jiao Yulu's research visits, uncovering the "happiness code" behind the village's transformation. They learned how this once wind-swept area, known as the largest wind gap in Lankao, has evolved into a model and showcase for rural revitalization in Lankao County, becoming the well-deserved "Happy Zhangzhuang." Through this journey, participants witnessed firsthand the remarkable changes brought about by perseverance, innovation, and community effort, drawing inspiration from the village's success story and its alignment with the broader goals of rural development and prosperity.
Jiao Yulu spirit is not only a historical memory, but also a precious treasure for each of us on the way forward in the new era. In the future, Weihai campus staff will continue to take Comrade Jiao Yulu as an example, work hard for the cause of the Party and the people, and leave a regretful struggle footprint on the new journey of the new era!
