On Oct 22, SWJTU-Leeds Joint School paid a visit to BJTU Weihai Campus to exchange experiences on Chinese-foreign cooperative education.

On October 22nd, Jiang Jiuwen, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Leeds College at Southwest Jiaotong University, along with Liu Yaoqian, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee, and three other colleagues, visited the Weihai Campus to conduct research and exchange insights on the development of new campuses for UK-China transnational education. Li Xiangshan, Secretary of CPC Weihai Campus Committee, Liu Ying, Dean of Weihai International College, Zhao Xing, Vice Secretary of CPC Weihai Campus Committee, and Vice Deans Bai Yanlei and Xiao Guiping of the Weihai International College participated in the discussion through a combination of online and offline formats.

Liu Ying delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the Weihai Campus, expressing a warm welcome to the delegation from the Leeds College at Southwest Jiaotong University. Liu Ying noted that Beijing Jiaotong University and Southwest Jiaotong University share the same roots, and both the Weihai Campus and the Leeds College primarily operate under the UK-China cooperative education model. She expressed hope for further strengthening ties and deepening exchanges between the two institutions. During the meeting, Li Xiangshan provided a detailed introduction to the current development status, party building efforts, management systems, mechanisms, and operational models of the Weihai Campus. Other members of the campus leadership team also shared insights on their respective areas of responsibility, including logistics management, faculty development, educational and teaching management, and the campus's internationalization efforts.

Jiang Jiuwen expressed gratitude for the warm reception and congratulated the Weihai Campus on its achievements in recent years. He provided an overview of the development of the Leeds College at Southwest Jiaotong University, including recent advancements in discipline construction, talent cultivation, and the progress of Sino-foreign cooperative education projects. Jiang Jiuwen remarked that the Weihai Campus has already established a systematic approach in talent cultivation and teaching practices, and he expressed hope for enhanced exchanges and mutual improvement in the future.

During the meeting, responsible personnel from both sides also discussed topics such as party building in UK-China cooperative education, experiences in off-campus operations, teaching management and service support, and faculty training and management. Zhao Xing and Xiao Guiping exchanged views with representatives from the Leeds College on the challenges and difficulties encountered in their work, sharing experiences and measures. Following the meeting, the delegation from the Leeds College visited the smart classrooms at the Weihai Campus.

Representatives from Campus Presidents’ Office, CPC Committee Office, and Office of External Engagement and Training attended the exchange meeting.
