On May 23, the 9th Students Congress of BJTU Weihai was held successfully, with WANG Chenyu, SUN Mingyi and LI Xinrui being selected as new leading group members by one hundred and nine student representatives.
The 9th Student Congress of the Weihai Campus was successfully convened on May 23 in the lecture hall on the second floor of the Academic Exchange Center. Lin Wanliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Weihai Campus; Ma Xiao, Director of the Student Affairs and Services Office; Gu Yuying, Secretary of the Campus Communist Youth League Committee and Secretary-General of the Student Branch; and Gong Xiaozheng, Advisor of the Student Branch, attended the congress. A total of 109 student representatives and 15 observers from the campus participated in the congress.
【Opening Ceremony】
Lin Wanliang extended congratulations on the convening of the 9th Student Congress of Weihai Campus, fully affirmed the work achievements of the Student Branch over the past year, emphasized that student organizations and student representatives play an irreplaceable bridging role in the construction and development of the campus, and encouraged young students to follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, keep in mind the instructions from General Secretary Xi Jinping’s reply letter, inherit the spirit of "pursuing true knowledge and engaging in practical work", integrate personal development into national rejuvenation, and contribute youthful strength to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Ren Yihao, a member of the Presidium of the Congress. At the beginning of the congress, all attendees stood up and sang the National Anthem, then watched a video speech by Kang Rui, a member of the Presidium of the BJTU Student Union, and a video reviewing the work of the BJTU Weihai Campus Student Branch for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Xu Zihan, a member of the Presidium of the Weihai Campus Student Branch, delivered the work report for the 2025-2026 academic year on behalf of the branch, summarizing its work over the past year and outlining the direction for future endeavors.
Hu Xiaoxuan, a member of the Presidium of the Weihai Campus Student Branch, delivered the proposal work report of the 9th Student Congress, presenting the basic situation of the congress proposals.
【Election Session】
The representatives deliberated and unanimously adopted the election measures of the congress. Zhang Xingyuan, a member of the Presidium of the Congress, read out the "Explanation on the Candidates for the 9th Student Committee of BJTU Weihai Campus". Subsequently, the representatives unanimously approved the list of candidates for the 9th Student Committee and the list of candidates for the Presidium of the 10th Student Branch, and deliberated and adopted the list of chief scrutineer and scrutineers of the congress.
The congress elected members of the 9th Student Committee and members of the Presidium of the 10th Student Branch. Sun Yihang, the chief scrutineer, presided over the voting and election.
For this congress, the Presidium members of the Student Branch were elected by equal election, while the members of the Student Committee were elected by competitive election.
【Closing Ceremony】
In her closing speech, Ma Xiao interpreted the responsibilities and growth paths of BJTU youth in the new era by combining the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s reply letter to the four Jiaotong Universities with the campus’s education practices, clarified the original aspiration of student organizations, put forward requirements for student leaders, empowered campus development through student work, and encouraged young people to inherit BJTU’s cultural heritage, practice a down-to-earth spirit, and take the lead in national rejuvenation.
Sun Yihang, the chief scrutineer, reported the election results of the committee to the congress.
Gu Yuying, Secretary-General of the Student Branch, announced the list of elected members of the 9th Student Committee and the Presidium of the 10th Student Branch of BJTU Weihai Campus.
Ma Xiao presented appointment letters to the members of the Presidium of the 10th Student Branch.
All participating representatives sang the Beijing Jiaotong University Anthem, marking the successful conclusion of the 9th Student Congress of BJTU Weihai Campus.
With the joint efforts of all representatives and staff, the 9th Student Congress of BJTU Weihai Campus successfully completed all agenda items and closed triumphantly. With a high sense of responsibility and full enthusiasm for performing their duties, the participating representatives earnestly deliberated on work reports and offered suggestions enthusiastically, vividly demonstrating the lofty aspirations and promising spirit of BJTU youth in the new era who care about the country and forge ahead. This is a youth gathering that links the past and the future, unites hearts and pools strength, and a mobilization meeting that advocates truth, pursues innovation, and builds on past achievements for future progress!
