To thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on youth work, and solidly promote the implementation of the "First Lecture of Youth Political Education" curriculum framework, the Youth League Committee of Weihai Campus held the opening ceremony of the 8th Youth League School and the “Navigator” Student Cadre Training Camp on May 19 at the Academic Exchange Center.

The ceremony commenced with all attendees rising to sing Glory, O Communist Youth League of China. The resounding chorus echoed the firm conviction of the youth to follow the Party and strive for national rejuvenation.


Mr. Lin Wanliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Weihai Campus and President of the CYL School, delivered the opening address. Drawing upon the university’s profound 130-year legacy, he encouraged students to solidify their ideals and integrate their personal aspirations into the broader context of national and ethnic development. He urged student leaders to uphold fundamental principles while embracing innovation, honing exceptional skills, and playing a vanguard role. Furthermore, he emphasized strict discipline and a relentless spirit of endeavor, calling on students to grow through serving the collective and their peers, thereby showcasing the exemplary ethos of contemporary students. Following the speech, President Lin presented letters of appointment to the homeroom teachers of the 8th CYL School cohort.

Mrs. Gu Yuying, Director of the CYL School Academic Affairs Office, outlined the training schedule and disciplinary requirements. The program is structured around three core modules: theoretical study, practical training, and exchange presentations, balancing intellectual elevation with real-world empowerment. She urged all trainees to adopt a rigorous attitude, strictly observe attendance regulations, and embrace hard work. She encouraged them to practice the university motto of “To Know & To Do” (Zhixing) and demonstrate the responsibility befitting young leaders.

Mr. Cai Weiye, Vice Minister of the Organization Department of the Campus Youth League Committee and portrayer of Mr. Guo Yonghuai in the original campus drama Yonghuai’s Legacy, spoke on behalf of the trainees. He expressed the collective resolve to cherish this valuable opportunity for learning, to diligently seek knowledge and act decisively, and to contribute youthful energy to the high-quality development of the campus and the journey toward a strong nation.



Following the opening ceremony, each class held its inaugural homeroom meeting. Homeroom teachers elaborated on the overall arrangements, cultivation plans, and management norms, providing trainees with a clear roadmap for their journey ahead. Class committee elections and ice-breaking activities were also conducted to foster cohesion.
The 8th CYL School and "Navigation" Student Leader Training Camp represent a pivotal initiative by the Weihai Campus to strengthen ideological guidance and cultivate student backbones. Moving forward, the camp will roll out a series of activities including theoretical lectures, book-sharing sessions, thematic debates, and experience exchanges. These efforts aim to guide the youth in fortifying their ideals, tempering their capabilities, and writing a magnificent chapter of youth in the great journey of national rejuvenation.
