The University of British Columbia (UBC), established in 1908 and located in Vancouver, Canada, is a world-renowned comprehensive research university. It is considered one of Canada's top three universities, alongside McGill University and the University of Toronto, and is ranked 47th in the latest QS World University Rankings. The university boasts strong teaching and research capabilities and has produced eight Nobel Prize winners. UBC's Vancouver campus is acclaimed as one of the most beautiful campuses in North America.
I. Program Overview
The Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) is a 4-week program held at the Vancouver campus. It offers over 70 course packages in more than 20 specialized fields, including Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Architecture and Landscape Architecture, Business, Humanities, Chemistry, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Resources, Environment and Sustainability, Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, Education, and more. Each course package consists of 2 courses, with approximately 39 instructional hours per course. Participants may select one course package. For more details, please refer to the hyperlink.
II. Program Dates
July session: July 14 to August 14, 2023
III. Basic Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time undergraduate and graduate students (non-graduating year; some course packages are only open to undergraduates, see specific course descriptions).
- Must be at least 18 years old, with some course packages requiring students to be over 19 (see specific course descriptions).
- Good physical and mental health.
- Proficient in English.
IV. Fees
The program fee is CAD 5,625 per person, which includes the application fee, tuition, accommodation, and medical insurance. An application fee of CAD 85 must be paid to UBC upon registration. The remaining fees are to be paid to UBC by April 8. Airfare and living expenses are the responsibility of the participant.
V. On-campus Registration
- Undergraduate students must submit a hard copy of the "Beijing Jiaotong University Undergraduate International and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Exchange Program Application Form" (Attachment 1, to be completed with college signatures and seals). Postgraduate students must submit a hard copy of the "Beijing Jiaotong University Graduate International Exchange Program Application Review Form" (Attachment 2, to be completed with advisor signatures and college seals). The application should be submitted to the International Office, Room 108.
