On May 21, 2025, the inaugural conference of the Global Alliance for Intelligent Education (GAIE) was grandly held at Zhejiang University. The conference was guided by the UNESCO International Centre for Higher Education Innovation (UNESCO-ICHEI) and hosted by Zhejiang University. As an invited participant, Beijing Jiaotong University (Weihai) attended the conference and was elected to the Alliance's inaugural Council.

The consortium's council members comprise 56 global universities, vocational colleges, and enterprises, including Zhejiang University, Fudan University, the University of Science and Technology of China, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Beihang University, Sichuan University, Xiamen University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Dalian University of Technology, and others. Upholding the core philosophy of "Sharing, Co-Creation, and Inclusiveness," the consortium is committed to building a trinity development model of "Technology R&D—Educational Application—Ecosystem Co-Construction." It focuses on advancing the deep integration of AI technologies in educational scenarios and fostering global digital transformation in education through the establishment of an interdisciplinary digital education collaboration network.
Following the alliance's inauguration ceremony, experts from renowned universities including Zhejiang University, Fudan University, and Xi'an Jiaotong University shared empirical research, technological developments, and practical cases of AI in education. Their presentations covered multiple themes such as "Empirical Research and Implications of Generative AI in Education," "AI-Empowered High-Quality Development in Higher Education," and "Explorations and Practices of AI-Driven Digital Transformation in Education."

On the following morning, delegates from Weihai Campus visited Zhejiang University's Information Technology Center, Zhiyun Laboratory, and smart classrooms. They engaged in in-depth discussions with various stakeholders regarding development and collaboration opportunities in digital transformation, AI-enhanced teaching, and smart classroom development. These exchanges yielded valuable insights for advancing Weihai Campus's digital reform and informatization initiatives.

Seizing this opportunity, Weihai Campus will accelerate the integrated innovation and deep implementation of AI technologies across educational activities, management systems, and service functions according to its specific context. The campus is committed to building an AI-powered smart campus that delivers more intelligent, efficient, and convenient educational environments and service experiences for faculty and students. These efforts will elevate the quality of Sino-foreign cooperative education programs and enhance overall competitiveness, ultimately establishing an international campus distinguished by its excellence in transnational education.
