The 8th Student Congress of the Weihai Campus was successfully held on May 18 at the Academic Exchange Center. Attending the congress were LI Xiangshan, Party Secretary of the Weihai Campus; LIN Wanliang, Deputy Party Secretary and Discipline Inspection Commission Secretary; MA Xiao, Directer of Student Affairs and Services Office and GU Yuying, Secretary of the Youth League Committee and Secretary-General of the Student Union. A total of 105 student representatives and 14 attending representatives participated in the congress.
LI Xiangshan extended his warmest congratulations on the convening of the 8th Student Congress at the campus. He emphasized that young students should focus on implementing the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and talent, integrating their personal ideals into the overall development of the campus. He combined the characteristics of the times and the growth of young people, systematically expounding on the growth paths of contemporary youth from dimensions such as ideals and beliefs, academic cultivation, and responsibility. He encouraged young students to broaden their horizons, strengthen their beliefs, and hone their skills, striving hard on the track of youth. He also encouraged young students to closely link their personal development with the destiny of the country and the nation, and contributing their youthful energy to realizing the Chinese Dream of great rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation.
The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by WEI Lizhong, a member of the Presidium of the Conference. At the beginning of the conference, all participants stood up to sing the national anthem and watched a video of ZHOU Boran, executive chairman of the Student Union, delivering a speech and a video of the student branch of BJTU Weihai Campus reviewing its work for the 2024-2025 academic year.
MA Zixuan delivered a report on the work of the Student Association of Weihai Campus for the 2024-2025 academic year, summarizing the work of the Student Association in the past year and looking forward to the future direction of struggle.
WANG Yingxin, a member of the student union branch president's committee, made a proposal work report, which reported the basic situation of the conference proposals.
【General Assembly Election】
Delegates deliberated and unanimously adopted the election procedures of the conference. GONG Xiaozheng, read out the "Explanation on the Candidates for the Eighth Student Committee of BJTU Weihai Campus." Subsequently, delegates unanimously approved the list of candidates for the 8th Student Committee and the list of candidates for the 9th Student Branch Presidium, and deliberated and adopted the list of chief and deputy scrutineers of the conference.
The congress elected the members of the 8th Academic Committee and the members of the 9th Student Branch Presidium. The chief scrutineer, CHEN Xinran, presided over the voting election.
The conference adopts the method of equal election to determine the members of the student branch presidium, and the method of differential election to determine the members of the student committee.
【Closing Ceremony】
LIN Wanliang's speech provided clear guidance for the development of student organizations and set out explicit requirements for building a team of student leaders: "dare to think and act, bravely shoulder responsibilities, strive diligently, and unite in progress." In his speech, he combined the school's educational goals with the realities of student work, elaborating on the functional positioning of student organizations in the new era.
