The popular science education base in Weihai Campus of Beijing Jiaotong University is located on the 1st to 3rd floors of Siyuan West Building in Weihai Campus of Beijing Jiaotong University, with a total area of about 1,800 square meters. It is designed with the concept of integrating scientific content and scientific environment, and is mainly used for scientific exploration, astronomical exploration and physical exploration. The lobby on the first floor creates a relaxed and pleasant visiting environment through large-scale Foucault pendulum, naked-eye stereogram, huge oil painting of BIGBANG and other popular science exhibits.
On the second floor, there are mechanics demonstration laboratories, electromagnetics demonstration laboratories, vibration and wave demonstration laboratories, optical demonstration laboratories, stereoscopic and comprehensive demonstration laboratories, and thermal and comprehensive demonstration laboratories, covering nearly 300 demonstration experiments in the fields of mechanics, electromagnetics, vibration, wave, optics and heat.
The third floor is the world of students' innovative practice. Science training classrooms and students' science practice courses classrooms can provide students with scientific training and practical teaching. There are instruments and equipment such as high-speed rail simulation bridge and comprehensive experimental platform for rail vehicles in the rail transit characteristic exhibition room, which can let students experience the feeling of driving high-speed rail and briefly understand the working principle of high-speed rail. There are 29 kinds of robots with a total of 105 pieces for display in the Geometric Robot Laboratory. Through the popular science explanation and display of the mechanism and structure principle of robots, visitors can get a preliminary understanding of various mechanical knowledge.
