1. Take multiple measures to improve satisfaction with education
The student union of the campus handled more than 1,100 "Voice of Students" cases involving nearly 600 students this year, cooperating with various departments such as the Campus President’s Office, Student Affairs Department, Office of Academic Affairs, Laboratory Center, Office of Financial Affairs, Campus Services Department, Teaching Development Department, IT Center, EXT Engagement and Training Department, and Library. Each case was classified by the student union staff within 24 hours of submission and forwarded to relevant teachers. A summary report was submitted every two weeks to ensure that every case was handled properly.
In addition, the student union organized six "Face-to-face Talk Over Lunch" sessions to focus on students' needs, providing a platform for direct communication between campus leaders and students.
2. Multilevel academic guidance strengthens academic atmosphere
This year, the student union of the campus continued to focus on the construction of academic atmosphere and create multi-level academic guidance programs. They organized various activities, such as dormitory competitions for learning outcomes, competition of excellent class notes, daily English practice, mock tests for CET-4 and CET-6, online learning for CET-4 and CET-6, competition of freshman learning plans, Chinese debate competitions, as well as multiple "Got Talent" experience sharing sessions. The events have been attended by more than a thousand people, creating a good learning atmosphere for the campus.
3. Implementation of sports activities to fulfill the National Fitness Plan
This year, Weihai Communist Youth League Committee has launched various sports activities, including daily one-hour exercise, online fun sports, freshman sports meeting, freshman basketball and football tournament, sports carnival, campus faculty and student sports meeting, "vibrant youth, sport together" night run to implement the national fitness plan and create an "individual-group-team" sports education model. The total number of participants exceeded 1500, and the audience exceeded 2000. A series of sports activities demonstrated the brilliance of campus students, leaving them with beautiful memories of their youth, while enhancing the cohesion, promoting friendship among students, and enriching campus culture and life.
4. BJTU Weihai Held The Fifth Youth League School
From May 13th to May 29th, Weihai Campus launched the 5th Youth League School. During this period, a series of activities such as the opening ceremony, class meetings, theoretical study, experience sharing, book sharing sessions, debate competitions, and talent show were organized, which achieved good educational results. This activity encouraged all students to bravely shoulder their youth mission, pursue the faith, and strive to become capable of shouldering the responsibility of national rejuvenation.
5. BJTU Weihai Held the Campus Tour Activity
On June 12th, Weihai Campus held a graduation campus check-in activity with the theme "Leaving Traces on Campus, Recalling Memories in Heart". Under the guidance of the Student Club Management Department, multiple interest-based student clubs on campus guided graduates to check in at various locations, allowing them to review the wonderful four years of their university life. In front of the locomotive, students came up with interesting activities, near the playground, the clubs sang blessings to the graduates, and in front of the school gate, graduates dressed up for photos. This campus check-in activity provided valuable memories for graduates while also providing a platform for various clubs to showcase their charm, which is conducive to creating a healthy, civilized, and positive campus cultural atmosphere.
6. The Commencement for Class of 2022 Was Successfully Held
On June 25th, the 2022 graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony of Beijing Jiaotong University Weihai Campus was held. While the graduation ceremony was held on site, it was also simultaneously broadcast on the Internet platform for parents and alumni. The outstanding graduates of Weihai Campus in 2022 embarked on a new journey in life witnessed by their teachers, classmates, and parents.
The 2022 graduation ceremony was student-oriented, enhancing the graduates' sense of happiness and belonging to their alma mater. The graduation ceremony and related work received rapturous responses both inside and outside the campus. Several media outlets conducted interviews and reported on the event, and the number of online viewers exceeded 110,000, leaving an unforgettable graduation season for the graduates of 2022 and making positive and effective publicity for Weihai Campus.
7. BJTU Weihai Held the 2022 Freshman Gala
On September 25th, the 2022 Freshman Gala was grandly held in the auditorium of the student activity center at Weihai campus. Over 40 student cast participated in the gala, bringing an unforgettable audio-visual feast to more than 700 teachers and students in the audience. This freshman gala injected boundless vitality into the campus and showcased the youthful spirit and positive attitudes of the new generation of young people in the new era.
8. BJTU Weihai Held the "My University, My League" Activity
On October 16th, Weihai campus held the "My University, My League" activity for new students. Lin Wanliang, Ma Xiao, Guo Haiyang, and all 2022 freshmen participated in the event. This activity was held to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Youth League and the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. It aimed to guide new students to inherit the university’s fine traditions and strive to become young pioneers who stand at the forefront of the times. This activity encouraged the campus youth to firm their beliefs, serve and contribute, and continue to move forward. It also promoted the construction of an excellent academic atmosphere, while inspiring students to continue to work hard, remain steadfast in following the Party, and fulfill the solemn pledge of "Youth for the Party, Not Letting Down the People" through practical actions.
9. The 2nd Campus Cultural and Art Festival Was Held
On December 3rd and 4th, the campus art festival was organized by the campus art group under the guidance of the campus Youth League Committee. The first day's drama performance presented the original play "An Unrequited Love in Peach Blossom Land," which received unanimous praise from the audience. The second day's "Music and Dance" exhibition showcased fifteen artistic works in three categories: professional drama, instrumental music, dance, and choir, with more than 90 performers taking the stage and 1500 people watching. This cultural and art festival enriched the extracurricular life of teachers and students on campus, fully demonstrated the artistic education level of the campus, and constructed a three-dimensional artistic education platform.
10. BJTU Weihai Held Activities to Commemorate “December Ninth” Movement
To commemorate the "December 9th Movement", cultivate patriotism among students, and remember history, the Weihai Campus Youth League Committee organized a series of activities related to the December 9th Movement. On December 3rd, the campus held an orienteering activity with the theme of "Celebrating the 20th Party Congress and Striving for a New Journey" to commemorate the December 9th Movement. A total of 228 students of different grades and some faculty members participated in the relay race to complete a series of projects. Teachers and students strengthened their relationship and exercised their physical strength during the activity. On the morning of December 9th, the campus Youth League Committee organized a flag-raising ceremony. Ma Xiao, Minister of Student Affairs Department of Weihai Campus, Guo Haiyang, Secretary of Youth League Committee, campus counselor representatives, and student representatives participated in the flag-raising activity. Through the series of activities, teachers and students of the campus looked back at the glorious history of BJTU, recalled the hardships of the predecessors, studied the spirit of the 20th Party Congress of the CPC, and aspired to contribute their unique strength to building a socialist modernpowerful country and realizing the second centenary goal.
11. The Excellent Performance of Social Practice Demonstrated the Comprehensive Education Level
This year, the campus committee organized 18 summer social practice projects around six major themes. These projects covered a total of 174 students, an 18% increase compared to the previous year. One team won the first prize at the university level, and another team won the second prize, which is the first time since the establishment of the campus. During the practice, each team actively used various online media platforms to promote their activities and expand their influence. The 18 teams accumulated over 10,000 views on platforms such as Bilibili, Douyin, Weibo, and WeChat public accounts.
