To further elevate the internationalization level of student affairs at Weihai Campus and advance the campus informatization initiative, from May 14 to 15, LIN Wanliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Weihai Campus, led a delegation to visit the University of Nottingham-Ningbo (UNNC) and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) for research exchanges. Leaders and department heads from both institutions warmly received the delegation. The two sides held in-depth discussions on multiple dimensions, including institutional characteristics, internationalization of student management, construction of information platforms and employment support systems.

On May 14, the delegation held discussions with faculty representatives from UNNC, China’s first independent Sino-foreign university. The dialogue centered on institutional profiles, pedagogical innovations, student management systems, career development services, and digital transformation. Renowned for its commitment to liberal education, UNNC showcased its "Second Classroom" initiative, which aligns with global corporate demands and has significantly enhanced graduate outcomes. The university also shared its pioneering efforts in internationalizing ideological education, including exchange programs for Chinese counselors at UK institutions. In return, the Weihai delegation contributed insights into parent-school communication, mental health support, and campus safety mechanisms. Both parties pledged to deepen collaboration in digital innovation and globalized education.

The following morning, the delegation visited the Taicang Campus of XJTLU, where staff introduced its visionary infrastructure, including student communities, sports facilities, and fire control systems. Designed as a "model for future universities" and a "cradle for industry leaders," the Taicang Campus pioneers experimental education models, reimagines spatial layouts, and refines multi-campus governance.

Later on May 15, the delegation toured XJTLU’s main campus, engaging with Vice President XIE Qijian on the university’s ambitious educational blueprint. This strategy encompasses enhancing specialized elite education, co-creating industry-integrated programs with enterprises, and fostering an ecosystem that merges academia with societal innovation. Discussions also delved into academic culture, campus safety, and institutional philosophies.

Throughout the visit, the delegation inspected key facilities such as one-stop student service centers, libraries, dormitories, and history museums, gaining a holistic understanding of campus culture and infrastructure.
The innovative approaches observed in campus planning, functional design, and service delivery have provided Weihai Campus with fresh perspectives for optimizing educational environments. Insights into academic ethos, residential community management, and safety protocols are set to inform future reforms.
