BJTU-RIT Students Participated in RIT’s Global Humanities Conference
From April 19 to 22, more than a hundred students of MIS in BJTU Weihai, a joint program between RIT and BJTU, participated in the Global Humanities Conference, a multi-campus academic forum launched by RIT. The students shared their opinions with their peers and professors from RIT’s campuses of Rochester, Dubai, Kosovo. The inspiration for the Conference came to Dr Jude Okpala while working with BJTU-RIT students on BJTU Weihai Campus. According to Prof. Julie Cecchini Cook, Associate Dean of RIT China, the forum aims at an interdisciplinary discussion, with the overarching theme of what it means to be Human in 2021. Student research focuses on cultures and people that have histories of exclusion from creation and exercises of dominant knowledge; on practices that affect subjectivity-formation, like Ethics, Culture, Economics, Translation, Technology etc.
