The external engagement and training department is responsible for the management of alumni association, foundation, non-academic education and other society training. With the help of teaching platform, education and other social resources of all disciplines, it is aims to impart knowledge, repay society, inherit the culture of BJTU under the background of the school’s implementation of the "one school, multiple districts" development strategy.

外联与培训部负责管理威海校区校友会、基金会，承担校区非学历教育，主办和承办各类社会培训。在贯彻“一校多区”发展战略背景下，依托学校高水平的科教平台、一流师资和专业相关领域的社会资源，助力校区全面育人的同时，适时回馈社会，面向在职人员提供专业知识和技能培训，传承百年交大文化。关注校友成长，凝聚校友力量，支持校友企业。搭建学校与社会沟通联络的桥梁，全面推广校企合作，募集建设基金。利用国际化优势，开展非学历教育，开发培训业务，打造交大品牌精品培训课程。
