On Sept 12, Angela Li, Manager of International Engagement from Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology of the University of Queensland, came to BJTU Weihai Campus and gave the students a face to face introduction of its relevant post-graduate programs. Senior students from different majors attended and had a better understanding of how to choose the right program, how to apply for it and what it is like to study abroad.
On Sept 10, Weihai Campus held a reception to celebrate 2019 Teacher's Day and Moon-cake festival. The faculty and staff from four campuses, Rochester Institute of Technology, Lancaster University, BJTU Weihai Campus and Beijing Campus, gathered together to enjoy their day, having a drink, tasting local figs and cakes, and sharing their stories.
September 1 witnessed the opening ceremony of 2019-2020 academic year in BJTU Weihai. The new group of 696 students were congratulated by Dr HUANG Taiyan, CPC Secretary of BJTU. He hoped the freshman could be well-versed in both Chinese and Western cultures, developing both ability and integrity. Dr James Myers, associate provost of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), recalled the incredible growth of Weihai Campus in his speech, together with RIT’s President Dr. David Munson’s best wishes through video. Mr. Andrew Meikle, Director of Corporate Information Systems at Lancaster University, advised freshman to cherish the time. Representatives of local government, alumni, faculty, Chinese students and international students also spoke to encourage the new cohort students of 2019.

On May 5, Mr AN Yuxiang, former China’s Education Counselor to Republic of Korea, together with officials of China-Korea Educational Exchange Center, paid a visit to Weihai Campus. Dr XU Yugong, Campus President of BJTU Weihai received the guests and explored the possibility of cooperation between BJTU and Korean educational institutions. The long tradition of exchanges between Chinese and Koreans in Weihai makes the city a popular destination for Korean immigrants. The delegates hopes to facilitate bilateral communicating, helping to promote Weihai Campus’ international joint programs and Chinese language programs to Korean students.
