Environmental performance refers to the measurable effectiveness of an organization's environmental management system in controlling its environmental factors based on its environmental policies, objectives, and indicators.
The concept of environmental performance can be defined from two aspects. In a broad sense, it refers to the continuous improvement of the comprehensive effects achieved in pollution prevention and control, resource utilization and ecological impact of an enterprise; in a narrow sense, it refers to the reflection of the indicators that can be directly detected in the existing environmental standards of an enterprise.

环境绩效是指—个组织基于其环境方针、目标、指标，控制其环境因素所取得的可测量的环境管理体系成效。
环境绩效的概念可以从两方面来定义，从广义上讲是指企业的污染防治、资源利用和生态影响等方面所取得的综合效果被持续改善，从狭义上讲是指现有的环境标准中规定的、企业的可被直接检测的指标上的体现。
本讲座以某平板玻璃企业为例，在企业环保压力日益严峻的形势下，落实清洁生产理念，从企业生产源头梳理分析，并灵活运用物料平衡、鱼刺图等工具，找出企业物料消耗大、主要环保超标的主要原因，并加以改进，走出了一条通过提升环境绩效，从环保要效益的路线。
